Liga Profesional de Fútbol (LPF) is set to come to the metaverse platform following the association between AFA and Upland.

The Argentine Football Association keeps up their golden period with the latest collaboration with Upland’s metaverse, following Argentina’s victory at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The partnership will bring improved fan engagement, exciting gamified opportunities and a varied range of NFTs.

The gaming segment will be taking on P2E gaming, with a digital collectibles pool built around teams, clubs, players, game highlights and more iconic moments from the tournament.

In a first for Upland, they will be offering NFTs of highlight videos from LPF matches. The virtual space will also enable business set ups to resell collectibles along with a digitalized world map where the user can own properties, create assets and amp up a virtual economy.

This, however, isn’t Upland’s first stint in the football world as it has had successful tie ups with FC Porto and FIFA in the recent past. The metaverse start-up helped FC Porto map out real world locations, rebuilding Estádio do Dragão in their metaverse. With FIFA, Upland offered fans a complete immersive virtual world of games, digital assets and virtual stadiums, including digitalized tokens of the tournament highlights.

Argentina was one of the two nations to have intoduced fan tokens during the recent world cup. The ARG token, aided by Socios, surged up as high as $6.40 on the day of the finals and currently has a live market cap of $7,244,796 USD. Portugal’s FC Porto fan token fell down to $1.20 following the team’s exit from the tournament.

While these fan tokens haven’t fared too well after the world cup ended, Sorare’s soccer trading card NFTs have gained big time with over $500,000 in sales and a 6.42% rise even after the tournament.

The world of sports has become increasingly adaptive of cryptocurrency, blockchain technology and all things web3. From NFTs in Formula1, McLaren and Red Bull Racing taking the lead, to Manchester City’s sponsorship deal with cryptocurrency exchange OKX- Sports has definitely made its place in the virtual space.

Infact, famous figures like Lionel Messi, Karim Benzema, Ana Ivanovic and many more have forayed into the web3 space with their investments as well as brand engagements.
